Barituka Bekee is a doctoral candidate in Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Missouri - Columbia, with an emphasis in Environmental and Development Economics. He obtained a master's degree in Economics, prior to which he worked on projects related to youth empowerment and agricultural development at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture.

His current research focuses on issues relating to the resilience of rural livelihoods, such as examining what capitals and strategies help enhance the resilience capacity of rural households facing socioeconomic and environmental shocks; as well as understanding how perceptions and attitudes shape the actions of decision-makers.
